The U16G Metro Surdel Sting started the new year with a convincing win over the Richmond Rush. The Sting maintained control of the play, building many good scoring chances throughout the game . Defensively, the Sting was well organized, allowing the midfield to dictate the flow of play. Lindsey Briggs opened the scoring with a well struck penalty kick and Melanie Martin scored later in the first half to make it 2-0. In the second half Richelle Day threaded a pass through the Richmond defenders to Kelsey Taylor who finished beautifully from just inside the 18 yard line to make the score 3-0.
