Byte Size Coaching Update

In the earlier editions of the BSC Newsletters we updated you with our action plans for the upgrading of the BSC program.

I also told you the story of my “new” approach to writing exam papers a few decades ago. The basis in the exam environment was to do all the planning, reviewing and note taking for the first two hours before going into writing action in the final hour of a 3-hr exam. It worked and a valuable lesson was learned.

Just in time for Christmas. Byte Size Coaching Newsletter #4. We want wish you all a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy, Healthy New Year. We look forward to a new year and another 12 issues of the Byte Size Coaching Newsletter. Thank you for a great year.

In this issue, BSC discusses "early learning." Early learning has become popular in the last few years with educators and researchers declaring that the foundation for enhanced growth later on in life depends much on the first years. Let us know what you think?

Tony Waiters writes about his quick trip to the UK earlier this month and his visit with Crewe Alexander Football Club.

Our featured Byte Size Coaching Club this month is the Abbotsford Soccer Association - located up the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. Abbotsford is managed by Barry Crocker, former trainer for the NASL Vancouver Whitecaps, and Head Coach Colin Miller. Colin Miller had a memorable career in the NASL and UK. Abbotsford is one of our founding members.

Have a good laugh at Tony's article “Beware of the Idle Pro.” Going back in time when Tony was coaching the Canadian World Cup Team.

Don’t forget to check out the Byte Size Coaching Update.

Enjoy our December Newsletter! See you in 2007.

I’ve just returned from a crazy 6-day whistle stop tour of England – except the whistle was that of the horn as I covered several hundred miles by car.

One of the stops was at Crewe Alexandra Football Club – the greatest little pro soccer club in the world. The purpose of the trip was to seek potential “partnerships” with pro clubs to help enhance what we are doing with BSC and the in-the-works DVDs. The DVD series we did in past years with Soccer learning Systems – Set Plays, Keeper and Systems of Play – has been described by many as the best-yet videos in the North American Soccer market. We appreciate the compliment.

Beware the Idle Pro

When you are in the pro ranks of soccer – player, coach, equipment manager, doctor, trainer, Head of Delegation, whatever – you'd better be on your toes.

The life of the pro takes you and your teammates on the road to many places, with plenty of down-time – call that mischief time – in airports, hotels, restaurants, any place. Anyone involved with this bunch of monkeys has to keep their wits about them!
