Welcome to the November 2007 Byte Size Coaching Newsletter.

In the Byte Size Coaching Newsletter this month:

Another speculative look at the immense progress of technology, particularly the web, and how that may impact soccer coaching in the future.

Michael Langlois' gives us a checklist to see if we are performing and behaving like true coaches.

We’re being invaded! Some strange beings have taken over our office demanding that we do a better job with the Byte Size Coaching Program. We have no choice. Click Here to have a look!

Michael Langlois' article in last month's Byte Size Coaching newsletter on Soccer Sideline Etiquette for Parents (link) was well received. In fact one club, through us, asked permission of Michael to post it on their website. This month we include another of Michael's articles which is so relevant for soccer coaches. At the beginning we have bullet-pointed the 17 key factors in a one-page summary that you can print off as a quick-view checklist to see if you, as a coach, are meeting most of the considerations. Each point below is also explained in detail in the full article.

Quick-View Checklist for Coaches. 1) Build confidence in your players. 2) Identify the real team players on your squad. 3) Communicate regularly - and honestly. 4) Explain clearly what you want and then demonstrate what you want. 5) Recognize that every young person/athlete is motivated differently. 6) Recognize that you have a potentially huge affect on the young people you coach.

Well of course, he did. Otherwise he was toast. He now holds a very senior position with Umbro (recently acquired by Nike) and is never seen without his Blackberry.
