Today's Newsletter is #3 since the launch of the New World of Soccer earlier this year.

In this month’s newsletter we look at the latest developments. In the last little while it was the men’s World Cup, and just recently the women’s U20 World Cup, that led the way. We had good feedback last month on the Boot Room article about the legendary Bill Shankly of the mighty Liverpool of the 60’s and 70’s. So we have followed up with another look at the humorous and inspirational Shanks. The two practices we include in each newsletter were a big hit, too! So we’ve given you a bonus – three practices. Actually one is the progression of the other.

If you like what you see and read, there is a lot more information on www.worldofsoccer.com

2006 - Two World Cup Finals

The Year 2006 has been the story of two World Cup competitions – Germany 2006 and in Russia the recently completed Woman’s U20 World Cup.

In fact, I asked a Canadian coach the other day about Canada’s performance in Russia. He didn’t even know the tournament was taking place. Shame on him! After the men’s World Cup it was all doom and gloom in the US because of their elimination in the 1st Round. I don’t see it that way. Full Story

Don't Shoot the Coach

During the last days of August we spent 4 long, hot days on a video shoot.

With a crew of 6, 3 cameras (one that disappeared 60 feet above us), 2 coaches and over 90 players, it needed careful organization to maximize the opportunity.

A lot of good stuff went into the can. The next mammoth task is to put that raw footage to good effect.

Boot Room Archive

The

As bona fide alumnus in the 70’s of the original Boot Room at the mighty Liverpool Football Club, in each newsletter I will include one article from the “old” World of Soccer Boot Room. I think you will find these articles pretty informative, but more importantly, you will have a chuckle. Hey! If you don’t think that’s important, go sit in your closet for two hours and see how much fun that is.

This months article is called "Shankly the Motivator "

Practices

Please feel free to forward the WOS Newsletter on to friends or fellow coaches. In each newsletter we will have two practices - one for 6 - 12 year olds and the other for 13 - 18 year olds.

In each practice or game we will put in the Progressions and/or Variations that will enable each practice to be modified to make sure players have success, but that they are also challenged. The trick is the practice must be fine tuned to make sure it is at the level of the player's age and ability.
