Surdel Sting defeats Port Moody Alliance 3-0

Amanda Davies goes in hard against a Port Moody Striker

Surdel Sting U17 Metro continued their winning ways as they were hosted by Port Moody Alliance on Sunday Sept 21. The Sting started the game slowly, not managing to build any effective opportunities but Port Moody had similar problems as the first half produced very little excitement or scoring chances. With two minutes left in the first half, the Sting managed to go ahead 1-0 when Melanie Martin jumped on a misplayed ball in the area and put it by the Port Moody keeper. After the half time break, the Sting displayed significantly more jump and started building chances with quick ball movement. Their efforts were rewarded when Jenny Dunn headed a rebound past the Port Moody keeper to make the score 2-0. For the remainder of the game, the Sting continued to carry the play. With 10 minutes left, Melanie Martin blasted a shot from the 18 yard line off the crossbar and past the goal line to make the final score 3-0. Sting's next game is Sept 28th against Semiahmoo Nitro after which they are off to Sidney Nova Scotia for the National Championships.
