U17 Sting drop a close one against Burnaby

Abbi Ayers fights off a Burnaby defender in U17 Metro action

The U17 Sting hosted Burnaby at Delsom turf on Sunday October 19. Burnaby struck with an early goal when an unmarked Burnaby forward picked up a loose ball in the box and put it by Chelsea Jewell, the SurDel keeper. Late in the first half, Burnaby was rewarded with a header off of a corner kick which found the back of the net. Early in the second half Burnaby went ahead 3-0 when they got by the Sting defence and put the ball in the goal. The Sting fought back hard and scored their first goal of the game when Richelle Day fed the ball to Jenny Dunn in the box who put it by the Burnaby keeper. With 5 minutes left in the game Kelsey Robinson delivered a perfect cross to Kelsey Taylor who made no mistake putting it in the net. The Sting continued to put pressure on Burnaby to try and tie up the game but ran out of time. Final score 3-2 Burnaby.
